OKAY. This is probably one of his skeeviest skills. As you can see he literally gets off on other people's emotions, especially the negative or charged/intense ones. He can also sense powerful magic/headmonsters/creatures from a great distance.

ALSO if the answer to "Can he sense your emotions?" is "yes" than a note about your character's emotional state while threading with him would be lovely.
